Barcelona make a statement with multiple high profile signings 📝

Will Barcelona make a return to the top of Spanish and European futsal with several key signings?

Published: 7/25/2025

Barcelona’s futsal endured what was, by their standards, a disappointing campaign. For the first time since 2016–17, they concluded without any major titles—including missing out in both the Primera DivisiĂłn and Supercopa—and failed to qualify for the UEFA Futsal Champions League for the second consecutive season. Subsequently, Tino PĂ©rez left the club shortly after after one year in the role of head coach.

After finishing third in the regular-season table, Barça did manage to progress to the finals but unfortunately for them suffering a nailbiting defeat in the playoff final to Jimbee Cartagena. This result means they will again be absent from the 2025/26 Champions League.

To add salt to the wounds the team also sees legendary figures Sergio Lozano and Dyego Zuffo leave the club after illustrious careers—Lozano having his iconic No. 9 retired in his honor, and Dyego, the club’s record appearance maker, departing to Al-Ula in Saudi Arabia.

To respond to the drought, Barcelona has embarked on a full-scale rebuild. Javi Rodríguez, the former Barça captain and one of Spain’s futsal greats, has been appointed as head coach alongside assistant Lluís Bernat.

Barça is rebuilding its backbone with high-impact additions:

* Neguinho, signed from reigning Champions League winners Palma Futsal, bringing experience and attacking talent to mitigate key departures and cover for Catela, currently long-term injured.

* João Victor, finally joining the squad after a loan spell—he’s secured a contract until June 2028 and is expected to be a long-term fixture in the squad.

* Luciano Silvertre Gauna joins from Servigroup Peñíscola FS

Could these changes be the new blood Barça need to make a return to the top of club futsal worldwide?
